Prayer for Monday

Eternal God,
I give you thanks for the gift of Life:
for health, and family and friendship.
(I'm remembering to thank you now,
before I forget again.)
I ask your compassion for those who are dying,
sick, hungry or in trouble.
Forgive me when I stumble and fail:
when I waste and destroy your creation,
when I don't care about future generations.
(You know those days, dear Lord.)
Forgive my indifference
to all the injustice and suffering in this world.
Be my light
(and for heaven's sake)
supply the courage I need to reflect it.
I know you are all I need, O Lord.
Help it to be all I desire.
Hear my prayer, Eternal God.
